Can’t get the Trek off my mind! I’d been stoked about the J.J. Abrams Star Trek movie since the moment I heard the rumors hit the mill. I watched the Next Generation as a kid, then as a semi-adult and finally as a pretend one. So, while the original may not have been my nightly viewing, it was the old timers who starred in all the fantastic films that lined our VHS shelf. Because I was very young when introduced to the wonders of space I should take a moment to thank my mom for introducing me to the tastes of trekster and my brother for keeping me in check. Anywhoseits, this film lives up to the highest of expectations… Mine. I could chat about the amazing cast, filled with a bunch of talented noobs, all of whom handle the backstories and essence of each character solidly enough to establish the oh so quirky and cocky attitudes us trek lovers are expecting from certain characters… Or I could rant about the storyline itself, being a bit of a mindbender at times and oh so perfectly put together and perfected. No! You see I plan on writing my epic response to the film another time. For now, I just wanted to give a shoutie out to J.J. who truly is the star in this trek… just look at the pic on the left!!! It’s so awesome and amazing to just look at!! The action is incredible and he makes the film so much fun! The beautiful sets, the amazing CGI, the red matter, the black holes, the time warps, the camera angles, the special effects, the cast, the crew ALL OF IT!! J.J. just knows how to put it all together, take a peek at cloverfield for another example of his genius. Point is, I Muy muy love it and plan on seeing it at least twice more in theaters as well as picking up my Blu-Ray copy in time for the holidays. If you’ve not seen it, see it. If you’ve seen it, see it again. And F.Y.izzle I consider myself to be a lifetime, hard-core star trek fan. However, I’ve heard rumbles that the purists might not like this film as much as the next guy. I attached a pretty funny video below that goes over those ideas and it’s worth a few laughs
